Dionika
Dionika's owner is a Galician who used to work as an exporter, sending Scottish fish and seafood to Spain. He says he decided to set up Dionika after becoming frustrated at the lack of places to eat this quality seafood in Scotland itself. Seafood is a speciality, but Dionika serves a good variety of Spanish-inspired dishes, generally using local ingredients. Also has a deli section and fish counter.
Rafaels
Cosy Stockbridge basement restaurant. Chef/proprietor Rafael hails from Andalucia, so the menu has a strong Spanish influence, but draws on various other European cuisines, so don't expect to see a list of Tapas Bar standards. Friendly, attentive service and a spanish guitar soundtrack. You won't want to leave.
The Far Pavilions
Local Indian restaurant with an excellent reputation
The Bailie
Could just as easily feature in the "drink" section, as this is a lovely old traditional basement pub, known as much for the quality of its ale as for its food. Fairly traditional pub menu, but while the quality is well above standard "pub-grub" fare, the prices are not. Popular Sunday afternoon meeting spot for groups of friends to dissect what went on the night before in comfortable surroundings.
Buffalo Grill
Simply excellent steaks. I think they sell dishes other than steak but really why would you want to know that? BYOB license so pick up a bottle of wine from one of the local off-licenses on the way here.
